# Sample data

> See what sample data your workspace starts with, how to dismiss the banner, and how to clear the samples permanently.

A new workspace can come with sample data so you can explore Re:InvestorHub before you add your own. It includes a sample property, a sample deal, a sample project, tasks, and prospects. When you are ready to start fresh, an Admin clears it.

## Know when you have it

When your workspace has sample data, a blue banner across the top of the page reads "You're exploring with sample data." with a **Clear sample data** link if you are an Admin. Everyone else sees "An admin can clear it." and no button. **Settings** also has a **Sample Data** card, which appears only while samples exist and shows its clear button to Admins only.

Select the **✕** at the right end of the banner to hide the banner. This does not remove anything. The **Sample Data** card in Settings stays available.

## Clear the sample data

Only an **Admin** can clear sample data. If you are not an Admin, ask one to do it.

1. **Choose where to start**

   Select **Clear sample data** in the banner, which opens the confirmation dialog. Or open **Settings** and find the **Sample Data** card.

2. **Open the confirmation**

   If you started in Settings, select **Clear Sample Data** in the card. A **Clear Sample Data?** dialog opens.

3. **Confirm**

   Select **Clear Sample Data** in the dialog. Select **Keep Exploring** to cancel.

> **What you should see:** the banner and the **Sample Data** card disappear. A message confirms it: "Sample data cleared." from the banner, or "Sample data removed from your workspace." from Settings. If it fails, you see an error message and nothing is removed, so try again.

> **Warning:** Clearing is permanent. The sample properties, deals, projects, tasks, prospects and images are removed, and the sample workspace cannot be restored.

## What stays

Clearing removes only the samples. Anything you created yourself is not affected, including properties, deals and projects you added while the samples were there.

> **Note:** If you built on a sample, for example by editing the sample deal, that work goes with it. To keep it, create your own deal instead. See [Your first deal, start to finish](https://docs.reinvestorhub.ai/guides/getting-started/your-first-deal/).
