# Portfolio property statuses > What Vacant, Rented, In Rehab and Listed for Sale mean for a portfolio property, and how multi-unit properties show their status. Each property in your **Portfolio** has a **Status**. You see it as a badge on the property's card, in its details, and in the **Status** filter at the top of the page. ## Statuses | Status | What it means | |---|---| | **Vacant** | The default for a new property. No one is renting it. | | **Rented** | A tenant occupies it. Add the tenant's name and contact on the property. | | **In Rehab** | You are renovating it. | | **Listed for Sale** | It is on the market. | Set the status with the **Status** dropdown when you add or edit a property. ## Multi-unit properties For a property with several units, **Rented** and **Vacant** follow the units. Set each unit to **Rented** or **Vacant** in the unit list, and the property shows **Rented** as soon as one unit is rented. The form reminds you: "Rented/Vacant follows the units below. In Rehab and Listed for Sale stay as you set them." Setting a unit to **Rented** lets you record its tenant and lease end date. > **Note:** Occupancy on a multi-unit property is counted by units, not by the property's status. ## Related - [Project statuses](https://docs.reinvestorhub.ai/reference/field-reference/project-statuses/)
