# Notification settings

> Choose which alerts reach you in the app and by email: task reminders, project updates and change order approvals.

Notification settings let you choose which alerts you receive and how. You can turn each one on or off separately for the app and for email.

## Where to find them

In the sidebar, select **Settings**, then open the **Notifications** section. It is titled **Notification Preferences**: "Choose what notifications you want to receive and how".

Each alert has two switches, **In-App** and **Email**. Turn a switch on to receive that alert that way, and off to stop it. A switch saves as soon as you change it.

> **What you should see:** the message "Notification preferences updated!" after each change.

## The alerts

| Setting | What it sends |
|---|---|
| **Task Reminders** | Reminders for upcoming and overdue tasks. You get one 7 days before a task is due, 3 days before, 1 day before, and one when it becomes overdue. They go to the person who created the task, and the task needs a due date. |
| **Project Milestones** | Updates on project progress and completion. |
| **Change Order Approvals** | Immediate alerts when a change order needs approval. Marked **CRITICAL**. |

These three are the alerts that send, and the only rows in this section.

In-app alerts appear under the notification bell, which is on every page.

> **Note:** Reminders arrive at the time you set as **Daily Reminder Time**, in your **Timezone**. Both are in your profile. See [Profile and password](https://docs.reinvestorhub.ai/reference/your-account/profile-and-password/).

## Turning alerts off

If you turn off both switches for an alert, you stop receiving it entirely. Leave **Change Order Approvals** on if you are an **Admin**, so you know when work is waiting on you.
