Change order categories and statuses

Every change order category, timeline impact option and status in Re:InvestorHub, and who can move a change order between statuses.

A change order records a change to a renovation project’s scope or cost. This page lists the values you choose when you create one and the statuses it moves through. To create and approve change orders, see Budget and change orders.

Choose a Category to say why the change is needed. It is optional.

Category Use it when
Unforeseen Conditions Work uncovered something nobody could see up front.
Design Change You are changing what gets built.
Scope Addition You are adding work that was not in the original plan.
Material Upgrade/Downgrade You are swapping materials.
Code/Permit Requirement An inspector or permit requires the change.
Weather/External Delay Weather or another outside event forces the change.
Contractor Error/Correction A mistake needs to be fixed.
Other None of the above fits.

Impact on Timeline says how much the change moves your schedule.

Option Meaning
No Impact The schedule stays the same.
Minor (1-3 days) Adds one to three days.
Moderate (4-7 days) Adds four to seven days.
Significant (8+ days) Adds eight or more days.

Any option other than No Impact also asks for Days Added to Schedule.

Status What it means
pending Submitted and waiting for an Admin to decide. Shown under Pending Approval on the Change Orders tab.
approved An Admin approved it. Its amount counts toward the project budget.
rejected An Admin rejected it. A rejection reason is required and is saved with the change order.

Only an Admin sees the Approve controls, and only an Admin can approve or reject a change order. See Roles explained.
